How To Be More Productive
Do you feel like there’s always so much to get done in a day but never enough time to do it? If so, don’t worry, you’re not alone.
Small adjustments in your daily routine can make a big difference in your overall productivity. It’s just about knowing how to take the first step.
Despite how minimal some of these tips may seem, the implementation and repetition of each and every one of them is the foundation of getting more done, in less time.
Create A To-Do List
Mentally keeping track of all that has to be done in a day can make it easy to forget about smaller tasks and lead to overwhelming pressure. Creating a to-do list the night before is a great and simple way to de-clutter your mind and stay focused.
Pro tip: prioritize your tasks and get the hardest ones over with at the start of your day.
Get Enough Sleep
Everyone knows the importance of sleep, yet still, try to find ways to be more productive at the cost of getting less sleep.
Getting your day off to a good start is important, and that means getting a sufficient amount of sleep. Adequate sleep has been shown to reduce stress, improve memory, increase attention span, and do so much more. Sleep deprivation, on the other hand, leads to procrastination and kills creativity.
Find out how much sleep you need to be fully energized and ensure that you don’t get any less than the amount you require.
Find Time To Exercise
You don’t need to
Research has shown that exercise can make you happier, smarter and more energetic. So, not only are you getting stronger physically, but also mentally.
Drink Water
Drinking water keeps your body hydrated and allows your brain to stay sharp. Dehydration, however, can negatively impact your brain’s normal functions such as memory retention and attention span. So, before starting your next task, maybe consider drinking a cup of water!
Stop Multitasking
Multitasking is an issue that most – if not all – of us have had to face. You find yourself always starting a new task without having completed the previous one, it becomes mentally exhausting and you’re left juggling a handful of tasks.
Focusing on one task at a time allows you to do a lot more in a shorter time span. Your brain has much less to think about and ideas come sooner!
Avoid Distractions
Living in an era where a message can be sent with the click of a button, it’s easy to get distracted by all the notifications that pop-up around us.
We often tell ourselves, “I’m only going to look at my phone for a quick second”, but those seconds soon turn into minutes, which then turn into hours. Often times, simply turning off your phone or putting your device on “Do not disturb” can be an easy solution to eliminate the urge to see what’s going on online.
